Grizzly Bear Advisory Council issues final report.. Their recommendations could influence bear management in Montana for decades.

“The document notes that 14 of the 18 council members supported an eventual grizzly bear hunt in Montana. That contingent’s recommendations begin with the assertion that “hunting can be a useful tool in managing grizzly bear populations” but would not replace the need for conflict prevention, and noting that any proposed grizzly bear hunt would not take place until ESA (Endangered Species Act) protections have been removed and grizzly bears are put under state management.”
